Other digital card apps

Most digital card apps, such as Popl, Blinq, HiHello, Linq, Mobilo, V1CE and Tapni, put a link to the person’s card on their website in the code. The link doesn’t say who they are, so met.cards keeps the link, and you type the name.

Some apps can also show a code that holds the contact card itself, for example when there’s no internet connection. That gives met.cards everything, as a contact QR code does.

On an iPhone or an Android phone:

  1. Open their card app.
  2. Open the share screen of their card; the QR code is there.

Apps differ and move these screens between versions. Scan it from Capture in QR mode.

Last checked: not yet on a phone. These steps follow the app’s own help and may differ in their version.

For a card link, met.cards shows the site’s name, such as popl.co, and says: “This is a web link, not a contact. Add their name and we’ll keep the link with them.” Type their name and select Save.

  • Their card link, under Profiles as Website, so you can open their card later.
  • The name you type.

For a contact card code, met.cards saves what a contact QR code gives.

met.cards doesn’t fill in the name or photo from other card apps, and nothing is planned. Type their name.

  • You want their email and phone number too. Ask them to open their card on your phone and use its save contact button. Then add the details with Edit on their page.
  • The link isn’t recognised. met.cards knows the card apps listed above. A link from another site shows This code isn’t a contact: type their name and save it as a note.
  • You already have them. As you type their name, met.cards suggests people you already have whose name matches what you typed. Select Add to on the right person, for example Add to Olena Koval, to add their card link to them. See When you already have them.
  • Nothing happens. Ask them to turn their screen brightness up, and tilt your phone so their screen doesn’t reflect the lights. Or take a photo of the code and pick it with the gallery button in QR mode.
