TikTok QR codes
What their code contains
Section titled “What their code contains”A TikTok QR code is expected to hold a short link, such as vm.tiktok.com/ followed by a code, that only TikTok can expand into a profile. So it gives met.cards a link only: a link that opens them in TikTok, and you type the name.
A full profile link, tiktok.com/@ followed by their username, for example tiktok.com/@olena.k, is a profile link: met.cards knows which account it is.
Ask them to show it
Section titled “Ask them to show it”On an iPhone or an Android phone:
- Open TikTok and go to their profile.
- Tap Share profile, or the menu (☰), then QR code.
Apps move these screens between versions. If the steps don’t match their app, look for a QR code icon on their profile or in their settings. Scan it from Capture in QR mode.
Last checked: not yet on a phone. These steps follow the app’s own help and may differ in their version.
What met.cards saves
Section titled “What met.cards saves”For a short link, met.cards shows TikTok contact and explains: “TikTok keeps the contact inside its own app, so we can’t read the name or number from this code. We’ll save a link that opens them in TikTok.” Select Type their name, or Photograph their screen to read the name from their phone. The person’s page shows TikTok under Profiles, with Open in TikTok.
For a full profile link, met.cards shows the TikTok icon and their username, and asks for a name: “TikTok codes share a profile, not a name. Add their name so you can find them later.” It saves their TikTok profile under Profiles, and the name you type.
Name and photo
Section titled “Name and photo”met.cards never looks people up on TikTok, and no setting changes that. Type their name; it’s on the profile they’re showing you.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- No username is shown. A short code doesn’t hold one, and met.cards doesn’t open it in TikTok to find out. Ask for the link to their profile if you want the username saved.
- Nothing happens. Ask them to turn their screen brightness up, and tilt your phone so their screen doesn’t reflect the lights. Or take a photo of the code and pick it with the gallery button in QR mode.
- You already have them. As you type their name, met.cards suggests people you already have whose name matches what you typed, under Already in your connections? Select Add to on the right person, for example Add to Olena Koval, to add this TikTok profile to them instead of saving someone new. See When you already have them.
