Threads QR codes

A Threads profile link is threads.com/@ followed by their username, for example threads.com/@olena.k. Older links use threads.net, and met.cards saves them as threads.com.

The link doesn’t hold their name, email or phone number. So it’s a profile link, and you type the name.

On an iPhone or an Android phone:

  1. Open Threads and go to their profile.
  2. Tap Share profile.

Threads may offer to copy the link rather than show a QR code. Then ask them to send you the link, and use Paste a link.

Apps move these screens between versions. If the steps don’t match their app, look for a QR code icon on their profile or in their settings. Scan it from Capture in QR mode.

Last checked: not yet on a phone. These steps follow the app’s own help and may differ in their version.

met.cards shows the Threads icon and their handle, and asks for a name: “Threads codes share a profile, not a name. Add their name so you can find them later.” Save works once you’ve typed one.

  • Their Threads profile, under Profiles on their page, with Open in Threads.
  • The name you type. Add their company, title or email later with Edit.

met.cards never looks people up on Threads, and no setting changes that. Type their name; it’s on the profile they’re showing you.

  • There’s no code to scan. Ask for their profile link and use Paste a link.
  • Nothing happens. Ask them to turn their screen brightness up, and tilt your phone so their screen doesn’t reflect the lights. Or take a photo of the code and pick it with the gallery button in QR mode.
  • You already have them. As you type their name, met.cards suggests people you already have whose name matches what you typed, under Already in your connections? Select Add to on the right person, for example Add to Olena Koval, to add this Threads profile to them instead of saving someone new. See When you already have them.
